Class comparison by job
| Job | Current lean | Evidence strength |
|---|---|---|
| Fast PvE farming | Wizard | Player-reported, repeated in long-form testing |
| World Boss / Raid | Ranger | Player-reported, poison/sustained damage rationale |
| Early progression | Best weapon wins | Repeated player advice |
| PvP | No settled winner yet | Too early; balance is moving |
Why Wizard gets the PvE nod
One recent long-form tester describes Wizard as potentially one of the fastest farming choices once higher-level passives and skill-reset/cooldown effects come online. The same discussion contrasts Wizard’s active clear speed with Ranger’s reliance on basic attacks and poison.
Why Ranger gets the boss/raid nod
The same testing says Ranger shines more in raid and World Boss content because poison has time to tick. The player also notes that poison is far less meaningful when normal monsters die in one hit.
Where Knight fits
Knight does not need a fake “S-tier” label to be useful. Launch-week player advice repeatedly says to use the class that matches your best early weapon because early progression is gear-driven.
An early sequence players actually report
Rather than picking one class forever, the most detailed launch-week tester describes a rotation:
- Push with Knight first. At equal investment he says Ranger or Wizard cannot push as high, and Knight survives long enough to unlock the systems that matter — Arena, Training Ground, World Boss (beginner-progression, stage-pushing).
- Grind with Wizard. One-shot wave clears mean gold, gear and training levels accumulate faster; his stat advice for this phase is simply “put attack on attack.”
- Field Ranger for raid and World Boss ranking, where poison and basic-attack pressure have time to work (world-boss-wings).
- Invest a little around level 19 if you have Steam Market access — the tester’s timing suggestion for the first outside gear purchase, because gear, not class, is the early power curve (steam-market).
Switching classes in practice
- Players swap characters and re-equip per class rather than “respecing” one character. One Indonesian streamer demonstrates unequipping his Wizard to make room for a fresh Ranger experiment; another tester asks for a preset system because manually swapping builds between PvE and PvP is clumsy.
- Weapons are class-specific, so a strong weapon for one class does nothing for another. That is exactly why “best weapon wins” dominates early advice: the market and drops decide your realistic options (gear-rarity).
- The EP1 tester frames the three classes as rock-paper-scissors by content type, not as a linear tier list — each class has “different purposes.”
What the evidence cannot tell you yet
- Late game. The streamer says outright that he has no idea what late game looks like, because the game is days into Early Access.
- A verified DPS benchmark. No crit cap, hit-chance table or solved skill tree has been reproduced; even the 84% attack-passive figure cited for Wizard is one player’s tooltip reading at one level.
- A settled PvP meta. The Arena is live and players run dedicated PvP builds, but nobody sampled here claims a winner (arena-pvp).
Short FAQ
Which class should a brand-new player pick? Whichever class owns your best current weapon drop. If you have no bias at all, the most-repeated route is Knight first for pushing, Wizard second for farming, Ranger third for bosses.
Archer or Mage at level 15? The EP1 tester answers “go for mage” for farming speed — while still pointing raid and World Boss duty at Ranger.
Do I need accuracy on Ranger? The most detailed Ranger tester says he does not run it; evasion and critical carry his build. Treat that as one build’s answer, not a law.
Can I just main one class? The same tester says no — “you cannot stay on a single class… you need to switch depends on the purpose.” Every class guide on this site assumes you will rotate (knight-build, ranger-build, wizard-build).
