Core priority
A long-form Ranger test explicitly says the class “relies on evasion” and that you need to keep investing in it for the setup to work. The same segment also calls out critical investment.
Practical order
- Get enough evasion that the build stops folding under pressure.
- Add attack/basic-attack output and critical value.
- Use poison-oriented skills for longer encounters rather than expecting them to matter on trash that dies instantly.
- Add HP/defense where your stage wall is caused by survival, not damage.
Stat priority in practice
The follow-up Ranger stream repeats the same hierarchy from the other direction: when setting his Training Ground priorities he names evasion three times before anything else, then attack. His own DPS note is that Ranger output is RNG-driven because it depends on evasion activation — when the dodges start proccing he calls the build “broken” in the good sense, and without evasion investment the class is, in his words, “very weak” (training-ground).
The rest of his stated order:
- Training Ground: attack, defense and HP first, then PvE lines (boss damage, damage taken), then evasion, with PvP-related stats last as a late specialization.
- Accessories: he “highly recommends” HP on accessories, with critical hit as the alternative axis. He explicitly says he does not run accuracy on Ranger — evasion and crit carry the build in his testing.
- Survival passives he reads on stream: an attack-speed boost after counter-attacking (he cites +5%), additional natural recovery (around +18% as he reads it) when HP drops low, and an HP restore once per battle — the layer that keeps an evasion build alive between dodges.
Skill usage tips
- His early skill plan spends points on Stone Arrow (whose poison damage line seeds the later boss build), Rapid Fire and Attack Boost, with an evasion-granting skill as the first pick for survivability.
- Counter Attack gets an early second point; Shadow Step comes online around level 45 in his walkthrough.
- Poison skills are for long fights only. He repeats in the same session that one-shotting a monster makes poison useless, so he does not waste expectations on trash-clear poison.
- Keep skill levels moving with your gear band: he flags a low-level Stone Arrow as an upgrade target the moment its damage falls behind the rest of the kit.
Ranger for bosses
Ranger is repeatedly framed as stronger in raid/World Boss content than in fast one-shot farming. That is a role recommendation, not proof that Ranger has the highest possible DPS in every boss setup.
Matchups: where Ranger shines and struggles
| Content | Ranger lean | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Raid / World Boss | Strongest reported pick | Poison and basic-attack pressure keep ticking on a long-lived target — the content the tester says Ranger “shines” in (world-boss-wings) |
| Long boss kills | Strong | Sustained damage outvalues burst once the fight outlasts a cooldown window |
| Trash clearing | Weak | The class relies on basic attacks, and poison never ticks on one-shot mobs |
| PvP / Arena | Surprisingly strong, player-reported | An Indonesian launch stream shows evasion-stacked Rangers getting missed over and over, so the survival stat doubles as an offense stat there (arena-pvp) |
| Stage pushing | Contested | The EP1 tester says Knight and Wizard push higher; Ranger needs evasion investment first or it folds (stage-pushing) |
Common Ranger mistakes
- Skipping evasion investment because the early numbers look worse than Wizard’s clear speed. The tester’s own words: without evasion, Ranger is “very weak.”
- Building accuracy on Ranger when the most detailed tester says he does not use it.
- Expecting poison to matter while farming normal stages; it is a boss-and-raid stat, and the value proposition collapses on one-shot kills.
- Sitting on surplus blue accessories: his habit is to combine accessories directly toward red and dismantle the rest for gold, because early gold is the bottleneck (combine-vs-dismantle, gold-bars).
- Copying a PvP evasion build into PvE wholesale instead of keeping the attack/defense/HP base underneath it.
What not to overstate
We do not have a verified launch-build spreadsheet for exact hit chance, crit caps or a mathematically solved “best” Ranger skill tree. Treat any exact percentage combo as provisional unless it can be reproduced in the current client.
